Visual analytics applications for health data

With an increasing availability of medical data from eHealth platforms and from the daily use of data acquisition devices or sensors, there is a need for technological services that facilitate data understanding and pattern extraction. CERTH/ITI has a long experience in the development of visual analytics methods, where the use of data visualization techniques (e.g. time-based charts, multi-dimensional displays, graphs/networks, etc.), combined with statistical analysis, machine learning and human interaction, allows the presentation of large volumes of data in a way that facilitates the comparison between entities of interest (e.g. patients, drugs), the detection of unusual cases, the generation of predictions (e.g. diagnoses), and decision making (e.g. recommended treatments). CERTH/ITI can provide the necessary know-how for the use or development of visual analytics methods and their application to medical data, both for research purposes and for dealing with everyday problems.
