The European Digital Innovation Hub for Smart Health: Precision Medicine and Innovative eHealth Services, smartHEALTH coordinated by the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology (ICS-FORTH) and with the participation of leading Greek research centers and businesses, presents an excellent opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises and the public sector to receive, FREE OF CHARGE, services to improve their business and production processes and products/services through the use of digital technology.


On September 6, 2023, the SEV Observatory for Digital Transformation conducted a study aiming to highlight the benefits of digital transformation in the healthcare sector for citizens and public administration. You can find the study here.

In September, the World Health Organization (WHO) published its report on the state of Digital Health in the European Union for 2022, confirming its commitment to support the European Action Plan 2023-2030 for Digital Health. The smartHEALTH hub has been actively participating in various events and business seminars/conferences since its inception. One of the most recent was its participation in the InnoHealth Forum 2023, which took place on September 22-23 at the JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa. In addition to the panels in which the hub participated, an interesting and interactive workshop titled “Digital Transformation in Healthcare: How High-Performance Computing (HPC) Can Transform Your Business” was held.

As part of mapping and familiarizing with the Greek ecosystem of eHealth, smartHEALTH hosts a series of podcast episodes featuring guests from the field. In the most recent episode of the podcast series, we had the pleasure and honor to converse with Mr. Georgios Nikolaidis, CEO of Ergobyte S.A. You can watch podcast #2 here.

On Wednesday, September 27, smartHEALTH organized the first open discussion focusing on eHealth companies and their needs, aiming to explore the future of digital health. This marks the beginning of a new cycle of hub actions, targeting the information of different groups in the field. You can watch the interesting discussion here.

The Greek digital innovation hubs, DigiAgriFood, smartHEALTH, digiGOV, SmartAttica, Health Hub iED, SYNERGiNN, and easyHPC, decided to join forces to develop a resilience plan for natural disasters, following recent events in Thessaly, Evros, Evia, and other affected areas of the country. On October 6, the first meeting was held with the successful workshop. More information can be found here.

In November, the second open discussion will focus on the digital transformation of public and private hospitals and how the smartHEALTH hub can contribute.

On January 17-18, 2023, the first smartHEALTH Annual Forum will be held at the facilities of the research center and partner in the hub, Demokritos, in Athens.
